Is US Supreme Court Backing down Gay Rights?

The US Supreme Court hears arguments this week in the case of a gay couple turned away by a Colorado bakery as they tried to buy a wedding cake. In 2012, baker Jack Phillips refused to make David Mullins and Charlie Craig such a cake, saying it was against his Christian belief.

A legal battle ensued, with Colorado's court finding that the baker's actions represented unlawful discrimination. The baker says this violates his rights to religious freedom and free speech.

Ron: My first question is why in hell are so many gay people getting married want a straight homophobic baker to do do their cake? Of course, it is right that all people should be treated equally in places of business, but are there no gay cake makers in Colorado that would be supportive and appreciate getting the work and the money? My view is that the issue here to to make a statement about your love and wanting to marry. There will be plenty of time after the honeymoon for political (and marital) squabbles.

On the other side, the argument of the baker is indefensible, and that the Supreme Court doesn't rule against it without debate is indicative of old recalcitrant justices and a new one recently appointed. Here is the answer and only issue on religious conviction against gay people: Could someone have religious convictions making a wedding cake for a black person, a Jew, or an Muslim? Of course, not. Religious conviction are open to all kind of pious as well as stupid things, and they must never, never contradict the US Constitution.
