(From Alturi News) Fifty years after homosexuality was decriminalized in England and Wales, 72 other countries and territories worldwide continue to criminalize same-sex relationships, including 45 in which sexual relationships between women are outlawed. There are eight countries in which homosexuality can result in a death penalty, and dozens more in which homosexual acts can result in a prison sentence, according to an annual report by the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA). Southern and east Africa, the Middle East and south Asia persist with the most draconian approaches. Western Europe and the western hemisphere are the most tolerant.

Meanwhile in the USA under the current anti gay presidential reign, The Justice Department announced on Wednesday that it does not consider workplace discrimination against LGBT individuals to be prohibited under federal civil rights law. The move, which came the same day President Donald Trump announced that he would ban transgender people from serving in the military, puts the administration at odds with another federal agency, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and breaks with the position of the Obama administration. The department declared its position in a brief submitted to a federal appeals court in a discrimination case on Wednesday evening.

If anyone thinks that gay rights are secure in the USA, he not keeping up with the increasing homophobia in Washington, D. C.
