Good News: A recent poll in England, Scotland, and Wales showed that 82% of Sports fans would welcome a gay player on their favorite team. Bad News: 8% of the fans said they would stop watching their team if it included a gay player.

The truth is that openly gay players are already on football (soccer) teams in the UK and around the globe. However, last week, UK Football Association chairman Greg Clarke told MPs he was "cautious" of encouraging a player to come out because they may suffer "significant abuse" from fans. "Significant abuse" in football lingo means up to death. Yeah, world football teams take their dedication to the sport deadly serious. The gay movement this century has witnessed the fall of many barriers in church, state, and military. Will sports be the final frontier? I am reminded of Jackie Robinson, the first man of color to play in the hitherto all white American Baseball leagues. There were problems, but rather quickly the color barrier was crossed when, as always, talent triumphs over prejudices. (For more information and other results of above poll, Click Here.
