On this anniversary weekend of the 9/11 bombings, we are still wondering why and trying to understand the motives behind the mass murders of thousands of innocent people. Since that fateful September morning, many people have been killed or wounded by people stirred with religious and political hatred. It's happened in Sweden, Belgium, England, France, and Spain. What is this darkness deep within mankind and why can't it be eliminated?

There are many answers, but few if any satisfied. I like the photos of the flag being raised over the ashes of the 9/11 destruction. It's rather like the Phoenix coming to life again. The only answer we have to hatred is for men of good will to plant flags by their deeds of kindness and love to other people around the world.
