Why doesn't Huckabee take on Apple a company with an openly gay CEO, or any number of non food companies, including newspapers, magazines, or television networks that have strongly supported equality for gay people? The reason is that conservative wingnuts like Huckabee have always waged war against targets that have no public platform to fight back. In former times their favorite targets were African Americans and gays. When Martin L. King, Jr, gave his "I have a dream speech" in 1963, the KKK was briefly resurrected by fundamentalists like Huckabee. When the first Stonewall rioter threw a brick at the NYPD in 1969, people like Huckabee shit a brick. Black and gay people where not support to fight back.
What allows people like Huckabee, Trump, and other ranting haters to spew their hatred publicly is that the news media give them a free pulpit any time they want to say something no matter how bizarre, inaccurate, or constitutional illegal. The news media are so desperate to fill up and compete with 24/7 news coverage that they will report any thing, no matter how inconsequential, incongruous, inaccurate, or inappropriate. (I am amazed CNN did not speculate on the color the Pope's underwear during his US visit.)
You have to wonder why an ordained minister says things against people -gay, Mexicans, and the poor, that are directly opposed to the teachings of Jesus Christ who always sided with the rejected, the poor, the downtrodden, and even the prostitutes. I suggest that when you mix religion and politics is that you come up with something that is neither one.
