Australian State May Lower Legal Age of Sodomy

In Queensland, Australia's second largest and most conservative state, the politicians are thinking about lower the legal age from 18 to 16 of male sodomy (an out dated word in their minds for anal sex). Some time back the legal age for female vaginal sex was lowered from 18 to 16, but for reasons beyond understanding, the authorities did not want guys to do any butt screwing before their 18th birthday. And please note, Queensland is home to Brisbane, a city of over two million people and a popular entry city from overseas US flights. (Above: Apparently there is no law about male kissing in Queensland.)

Hoping not to offend any of our good Australian friends, I want to make some observations about this social discrimination "down under."

First, maybe the politicians are spooked by their name, Queensland, and they want to prove there are not a lot of queer queens there. Secondly, females have always been given a free pass when it comes to gay sex. When Queen Victoria (after whom Queensland was named) was told that women actually did some "doughnut bumping," she refused to believe it, and hence no Sodomy Law were enacted against females in England. Thirdly, I suspect that, that like Queen Victoria, the lawmakers there could not imagine that straight men and women could pleasure themselves with anal sex. Had they known, they would have passed a law against male/female "sodomy."

In explaining the hesitation to change the law to make it equal for gay people, the most damn words fell from the lips of the Attorney General who said the reason for the delay was that "the government recognizes there are strong, conflicting views held by Queenslanders about this issue." Are we to believe by this that her government is based not on the laws of the land, equality, and civil rights for all people but rather on "strong views?" Hence, if people have strong religious and homophobic 'views,' they can just sodomize democracy and civil rights?

Queen Victoria died nearly a hundred and fifteen years ago. It's time for the place named in her honor to move their homophobic thinking out of the 19th Century. (Comments from Oz men are welcome.)
