The use of "Religious Freedom" against serving people you don't like reminds me of the 1950s and 60s when the US South was fighting the Supreme Court's ruling against racial segregation. The young Apollo Men missed those heady and exciting days when we southerns were forced to start looking at racial segregation as unconstitutional (not to mention a sin) and against the founding principles that "all men (and women) are created equal." It took us a while to realize that those rights extended to people of color, women, foreigners, different religions, and at long last gay people. Sadly, in the struggles to end segregation, the Southern Churches remained for many years the most segregated institutions in America. Why is it that in the US South, an organization based on Jesus' teachings of "judge not," love for one's fellow man, forgiveness of sins, redemption, and peace on earth has trouble dealing with all five?
