A new poll by the Public Religious Research Institution finds that youths growing up in the 21st Century are admitting they are gay in larger numbers than any time in history. Of those young people (under 30) interviewed 7% said they were gay. As a point of reference, among people over 60 years of age, only 2% said they were gay.

For years many people have denied the 10% number of gays given by Alfred Kinsey in his seminal study of male sexuality in the 1940s. Now as society turns more accepting of gay people, there is reason to believe Kinsey may have been closer than people had thought.

It seems reasonable to postulate that if 7% admit they are gay, another few percent of the people interviewed are not yet willing to come out.
