Doc, I am taking Plavix and one baby aspirin a day now for 3 or 4 months. Twice when I brushed my teeth there as been some bleeding. A friend would like for me to clean myself out so he can penetrate me. I would like to know how tough the colon is. I want to know the likelihood of bleeding. --Jay

Hi Jay, Plavix and aspirin work together to inhibit platelets and can increase the likelihood of bleeding. The colon is lined with epithelial tissue, mucosa similar to that of the mouth. It is known that penetration causes micro-hemorrhages which is why HIV can enter the body through unprotected penetration. Even if you do not see it there can be bleeding. The tissues are sensitive to trauma and slow adaptation to the stretch and lubrication can minimize that trauma.

Medically we refer to the term friable or easily disrupted mucosa, and you also have micro-hemorrhages when you eat a piece of crusty baguette. With adequate lubrication and gentle penetration you can avoid significant bleeding. If the colon can expel a certain diameter, it can also receive it safely. Hope that helps. -Ellar, M.D.
