Dear Doc, I am 75, have an enlarged prostate, and am taking Avodart which is reducing the prostate size. During foreplay I have large amount of pre-ejaculate to the point I am dripping; however when I ejaculate there is almost no semen. Can something be done about it as I sure would like it the other way around? -Jim

Hi Jim, Decreased libido and decreased ejaculate are known to accompany treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy, enlarged prostate. In many cases over time the decreased ejaculate volume resets itself back towards normal. It is good that you still have a good sex drive. It may take as long as 6 months for the prostate to shrink and hopefully the normal volumes of precum and ejaculate will also return. -Ellar, MD
