The current Apollo Poll shows a lot of people are "tired of politics," especially the hullabaloo in the US scene. However, it must be remembered that politics is and always has been a bare knuckles fighting match and not intended for the faint of heart or those satisfied to allow others to make their life decisions for them.

The four greatest social movements in the 20th Century only happened when

1- The US women went to street in demonstration to gain the vote.
2. The world united against a mass murdering Nazi leader.
3. People of color suffered police abuse of fire hoses and attack dogs
4. Gay people literally did street battles with the NYC police and other cities around the world to this day.

When good people lose their interest in politics, the worse types of gremlins rise out of the sewers and take control.

Without active physical resistance, women would still be popping out babies at home, England and France would not be speaking their native languages, school children of color would still be pissing in outside toilets in segregated schools, and gay people would be routinely taken in paddy wagons to police stations for dancing in secret gay venues.

The "good old days" of oppression must be permanently buried with diligent warriors guarding the cemeteries to make sure they stay buried so that equality and freedom will prevail in democratic societies everywhere.
