How OUT are you

Alfred Kinsey had a gay scale for determining how gay people were. It was based on a one to ten chart. I'm guessing most of the men reading this are a lot closer to ten than to one. I'm a ten. I even avoid short cutting through the women's department in Macy's, and I avert my eyes from anything a woman wears beneath her clothes unless it is a work of art in a reputable art museum.

I suggest having a chart to determine "How Out" a gay man is from lowest to highest:

  • 1: Most married men, clergymen, Republican politicians, and sports players.
  • 2-5: Some in the above categories and Democrat politicians.
  • 6: Some Military Men and actresses.
  • 7: Some Military Women and actors.
  • 8: Military women, and female sports players.
  • 9: Frequent Internet users.
  • 10: Recent gay activists, gay blog writers, and those in stereotypical gay professions who have been out from the get go.

Of course, most gay people moved up and down the chart depending on circumstances and location. On line they may be a ten, but around family, at work, or in church they are a one.
