Happy Halloween or Not

Halloween has become a major commercial billion dollar holiday in the US, and how it has changed since my younger days. I never once bought a store made costume. No one did. An old worn out sheet would do for a ghost disguise, and we took the words "trick" seriously, but not overly destructive.

It was a time to get back at grumpy neighbors who complained if you retrieved a ball that had rolled into their yard during the year. (These people turned off their lights on October 31st and didn't answer the door.) Every child knew on Halloween that revenge might be a sin, but a very sweet one.

Now there is a movement from the religious right to associate the day with Satan, you know that make believe guy with a red costume and a long pointed tell. Sometimes fanatics are the the scary ones, all year long. (See the Form below, and share your memories of Halloweens of yore.)
