Regarding "Who Stole Christianity"

To Ron:, As G. K. Chesterton said, "It's not that Christianity has been tried and found wanting. It's that Christianity has been found difficult and never been tried." (At Right: Sign showing that people pick and choose from the bible only what the want to believe.)

When Churches get money and power, corruption inevitably finds its way in. Especially monotheisms that are based on orthodoxy (right belief) rather than orthopraxy (right action/behavior). And of course in the USA with the many tax advantages and religious protection for any wild thing one says, anyone can set up a church (L Ron Hubbard, Joseph Smith, Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Jimmy Swaggert, Elijah Muhammed, Minister Farakhan) and profit it by it; especially by catering to people's phobias instead of telling them to modify their own attitudes and behaviors.

From Ron: Thank you for the Chesterton quote and your insightful views. I suppose you heard just this past week, a preacher who believed in snake handling, because the Bible says so, was bitten handling a rattlesnake, and when prayer fail, they rushed him to the hospital where he died. The tragedy is that the verses promoting picking up snakes and drinking poison were added much latter to scriptures. The Bible is a dangerous book in the hands of ignorant people; this explains why so much poison emanates from pulpits these days.
