hese kinds of "artsy" photos began in earnest during the 1950's and increased for the remainder of the century.  The handsome youth is gazing upon some giant mural while in a position that allows the viewer to gaze on him who is the real work of art in this photograph! The subtle message here is that man is more than a good looking body.  He also has a mind.  Whether or not this message was meaningful to those who used the photo for sexual stimulation is not known.  What is interesting is that it had become clear to the photographers of naked men that nude male models had been put in the category of sex objects where women had been placed thousands of years earlier! In the follow years, more and more artistic nude pictures would appear.  Nude men would be portrayed as people with something between their ears as well as between their legs.
