Gay Marriage Now Legal in New Hampshire
Posted by: Ron @ Thursday, June 4th 2009 @ 03:15:57 PM EST

Yesterday the New Hampshire Governor signed into law a bill making gay marriage legal in that state beginning January 1, 2010. New Hampshire becomes the sixth state where gay people can marry, unless California merits a number where gay marriage was legal until the voters shot it down in the November last election. (At Right: New Hampshire State Capitol at Concord.)

I propose that we start adding stars to the rainbow gay flag.

In the USA each state has a star on the flag and a number given in the order of its ratification of the Constitution. (Delaware is No. 1 and Hawaii is 50. Do you know your state's number?) I think we should have stars on our gay flag representing the number of states where gay people can get married and each state be given a number.

Massachusetts will hold the number one star for gay marriage in the gay flag. As mentioned above, there will be disagreement about California's number, but in time we will be debating who will be the last state to accept gay marriage. Some are guessing Texas, the Lone Star State –no pun intended.

You may now marry in six US states. Who would have thought it twenty years ago, much less sixty or seventy years ago when some of us were in puberty?
