Posted by: Ron @ Friday, August 28th 2009 @ 09:23:15 PM EST

Dear Ron and my dear fellow 70 years and older: Regarding your item about Body Mass Index and obesity, I was advise during my post-treatment phase after prostate treatment that the BMI for those of our age is actually less stringent than for the younger people. Whereas my BMI indicated that I was obese, my GP said I was actually only slightly overweight. My nutritionist in my post-cardiac coaching agree that my aim to put on weight shall not be detrimental to my overall health. I am also a Type 2 diabetic non-insulin dependent. (At Right: Health has its advantages for mature men.)

The best advice is for ALL YOU GUYS over 40 to see your doctor on a regular basis, that is, at least ONCE a year. Hugs from Australia and look after your health, sexual and otherwise. Richard

Dear Richard: You are right in that many doctors advise carrying a little more weight for older guys. For everyone else, over weight is a BMI of 26-30. Over thirty is considered obese, but if one's BMI is over 35, it is time for dietary correction. As the medical study found, obese people are in danger of both brain deterioration and Alzheimer. (My BMI is 28 down from 33 and aiming at 24. You can check your by Clicking Here.

Dear Ron: The nicest part of getting older is that you don't have to worry about getting there. YOU ARE THERE.
