I was always Gay in the Military
Posted by: Hector @ Thursday, July 24th 2008 @ 08:22:01 AM EST

To Ron: Well, well, well. What do you know. A special panel of Military men, after a study of Gays in the military, have come up with the astounding fact, that Gays do not harm a Unit's cohesion. (At Right: Two gay soldiers from the 2002 Israeli film: Yossi & Jagger)

Shucks, we all knew that, decades ago. Everyone knew, or suspected I was Gay, even my officers. In fact some of the officers tried to put the make on me. The only thing the troops did not like was that I refused to satisfy them every time they wanted to be. During the time I spent, first in the Coast Guard, then the Merchant Marine and finally the Army, I quickly found out, in each unit, that Gays were much sought after, and when found, were treated nicely and made good friends. Yes, there was always one or two guys who disliked Gays, but they were avoided at all costs.

Anyhow, it looks like the stupid "Don't ask, don't tell" law will be repealed. -Ray

From Ron: Ray, for years gay men have reported that living just outside a military base is the best of all hunting grounds. The hypocrisy of DADT is what grates on me.
