I very much liked your posting the GAY RIGHTS POLL (in the Private Apollo Newsletter) this month. Every gay man needs to take a look at himself in relation to his individual rights as a gay citizen....I got all four questions correct, but I would guess that many did not, which isn't good. We all MUST become more self-aware in order to better protect ourselves.
I am "out." That is, I don't hide the fact that I am gay. If asked, I tell. (As opposed to "don't ask; don't tell".) BUT--I also don't throw it in peoples' faces. When I first meet a straight man, he assumes I am straight. I'm not about to tell him otherwise. It has been my experience that many men--those who are not secure in their own sexual choice--are very uptight when they learn that I am gay. Their attitude toward me changes completely. I am "out." But I do not carry a sign saying, "I am gay!" I am merely me.
