To Ron: Here is a case in point regarding your article on marriage being a civil union. Some years ago my daughter was getting married. Her groom announced at the rehearsal that they had not applied for their license as they were too busy. They planned on doing that after the homey moon. The minister then informed them that he could not marry them without a license. You can imagine the pandemonium of that moment culminating with the fainting of the groom's mother. Luckily we knew the chief prosecuting attorney for the city. He arranged for them to meet with the person who could issue a license with the pledge that they would full fill the requirements on Monday morning BEFORE the honeymoon. Only when the minister saw the license did he agree to preform the religious part of the ceremony. It is funny now ... but then it was a hard lesson to learn. -Dave
From Ron:, Apparently, most people do not know that the State has the legal right to say who gets married. Religion only has the right to perform the religious ceremony.
To Ron: Your message today about the state vs the church is right on. I would ask your permission to use some of your verbiage in a local letter to the editor. You have really hit on some good points. Please let me know as I do not want to plagiarize your words. Regards, David
From Ron:, Thank you for asking. All information on Apollo Network is for everyone's use in quoting in non commercial efforts to spread enlightenment and in the struggle for gay rights.
