About the Poll on where we get our News
Posted by: Ron @ Thursday, March 20th 2008 @ 09:15:51 AM EST

To Ron: I abandoned the usual TV and Main Stream Media news when they went absolutely berserk over Britney Spears and Paris Hilton while American soldiers were dying in Iraq and Afghanistan, the American dollar and stock markets were tanking, new allegations of malfeasance against President Bush and his administration were surfacing, the debt crisis was causing home prices to plummet and people to be evicted from their homes. But the 24/7 coverage were film crews outside Britney's house! Helicopters hovering over her house while an ambulance crew moved her to a hospital! What a gross invasion of privacy, and flagrant abuse of "freedom of the press!" And what a horrific lack of judgment of what should constitute news in American journalism.

Many children in the USA have parents with problems, and deserve the level of care and consideration Britney and K-Fed's kids do. Where are the press crews for them? Where are the press crews for the children who are abandoned because they admitted to their parents they might be gay? Where are the press crews for the kids, straight or gay, who have been abandoned by our administration and their parents and live on the street, and end up selling their bodies for a meal and a warm bed?

I have abandoned print press and video press, and get my news solely from Internet sources. And yet there is the risk that my sources are just as corrupt and biased as the print sources, whose frivolous bias towards celebrity reporting I abandoned. I'm not certain whom we should be reading. -Rick
