Hulmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate
Posted by: Ellar @ Wednesday, May 21st 2008 @ 07:02:33 AM EST

Hi Doc, I am scheduled for this laszer surgery on the 6th of June. Have problems emptying bladder. Wonder what your experience/knowledge is concerning it. Looked it up on internet but found information rather technical to understand. Was told would no longer have ejaculate, but would experience orgasm, and there is the possibility of ending up in Depends. My brother wears them from Prostate Surgery, and it is very unpleasant. I have a friend that enjoys pleasuring me, and a part of that is seeing me ejaculate. Guess what I would like to know is how it worked for others who have had it. Did it make them feel "less than" etc. Thanks for taking the time. Appreciate the service you perform for all Apollo men. Sincerely, Rob

Hi Rob, with all prostate surgery there is a risk of retrograde ejaculation where the semen shoots into the bladder and exits with urine. The laser surgery you speak of in good hands requires less time in the operating room under anesthesia, less time with a catheter, less blood loss, and shorter hospital stays and at one month the results are equal.

Theoretically with a guided laser the collateral damage is less, but as in all surgery the preexisting status of the neighborhood and healing capabilities of the individual come into play. Some people have no effect on ejaculation. some have some partial forward and retrograde flow. only a small percentage suffer complete loss of ejaculate and it is most unlikely to become incontinent of urine.

Desire and the pleasure of orgasm usually remain intact. Remember that ears, lips, nipples, skin, and the groin are all erogenous zones. -Ellar M.D.
