What's the problem with DADT in the US Congress?
Posted by: Ron @ Monday, August 2nd 2010 @ 09:37:14 AM EST

The US Congress is trying to decide if gay people should be allowed to serve in the military. What is their problem?

Look at the facts.

Of the 26 NATO countries, 22 of them allow gay people to serve openly in the military.

Here are the countries where gay people can serve openly to defend their county:

AlbaniaArgentinaAustraliaAustriaBelgiumBermudaBrazilCanada
Colombia Czech Republic Denmark Estonia Finland France Germany Ireland
Israel Italy Lithuania Luxembourg Malta The Netherlands New Zealand Norway
Peru Philippines Romania Russia Slovenia South Africa Spain Sweden
Switzerland Taiwan United Kingdom Uruguay

And where can gay people not serve?

Cuba China Egypt Greece Iran Jamaica North Korea Pakistan Saudi Arabia
Serbia Singapore South Korea Syria Turkey United States Venezuela Yemen

If most of the the allies of the USA allow gay people to serve openly in military, why can not it happen here in the "land of the free?"
