New Orleans: Brad Pitt and his partner Angelina Jolie bought a home in the French Quarter of New Orleans in 2007 and started "Make It Right," an organization to build houses for low-income residents who lost their homes during Hurricane Katrina.
Now "Pitt for Mayor" tee shirts are popping up all over the city. (See Right.)
Pitt does not meet the five years residential requirement for next year's mayoral election, and he has laughed off the notion saying that he has no chance as he is pro gay marriage, a non believer in religion, and seeking the legalizing and taxation of pot, any one of which would cost him an election south of the Mason-Dixon line.
When asked once when he and Angelina Jolie were going to get married, he joked that as soon as everyone (meaning gay people) were allowed to marry. The joke became a reality in Pitt's thinking, and he is now an outspoken proponent of gay rights and gay marriage. That alone should garner him plenty of votes in "The Big Easy."
In truth, why should a man run for political office when he can achieve more good doing what he does best? Pitt makes about 20 million dollars for every movie and uses his wealth for good causes, e.g. restoring a city forsaken by the US Government as well as gay people who are also low on the US Government's list of righting wrongs.
You have to think, for example, that the current governor of California rather wishes that he had continued making major bucks in the movies instead of the f..k ups and billion dollar deficits that exist in that once wealthy state.
The best thing for Brad Pitt is for us to see his movies and let him use his money on worthy causes.
