When Hector and I first started working together on Apollo Network eleven years ago, we could not have foreseen the changes that this joint project for older gay men would bring to our own lives, much less the contacts we would make with men around the world. Hector was out of high school but not yet in college. I was still in a boring, unproductive government job. Soon we were in a monogamous partnership and working on ways to reach gay men on the web. Between Hector's computer savvy and my love of gay activism, Apollo Network was the child of our efforts. As they say, the rest is history, but on this his thirtieth birthday, I want to applaud Hector's work. Since the fall of 2000 when we started keeping records, 47,557 men (as of today) have signed onto Apollo. None of this was or continues to be possible without Hector. I congratulate him on what he has already achieved in his first thirty years. Also, one could not wish for a better or more loving partner. Happy Birthday Hector!
